Pitiful Points

Sorry that I have been basically absent for the last week. I have been reading and commenting some but even that has been less than usual.

You see I have a pain in the…

Jaw.

Yep, old fillings, refillings, and a not so good dentist equal root canal. Yuck.

Long story short I have been in varying levels of pain for over a week most lately pretty severe.

I have mostly powered through with the help of crazy amounts of Ibuprofen and Tylenol but it has been no fun and very tiring since sleep has been elusive.

sad face

I have asked for and received quite a few “pitiful points” as he has taken care of me. I have been too out of sorts to even be feisty most of the time so I haven’t needed too many but he has granted whatever I need. He has been pretty sweet bringing me things and cuddling me throughout. He said earlier that he could really see on my face how uncomfortable I was.

Let me just say that from my side he deserves pitiful points too because he is so pitiful not being able to really do anything for me. He keeps asking what he can do and there really is nothing so he just looks sad. Twice this week I have woken up in tears and he gets me what he can and holds me but I know it is killing him.

My root canal was yesterday and the specialist who did it said it was pretty involved and that I would be quite sore for a few more days. He was right. Even with the pain meds I am pretty unhappy but hopefully that will improve with time.

He had to leave today and won’t be back until Friday so I am on my own. It will be fine but I will be glad when he gets back. Hopefully by then neither of us will be earning “pitiful points”.

So sorry you are going through this Zoe. The pain meds don’t really do much for tooth pain that’s for sure.

Its so sweet that he wanted to take care of you. It’s hard to watch a loved one be in pain and not be able to help.

Hopefully each day will get even better and very soon you will be back to normal.

I sure hope so. Normal would be good. I don’t think I appreciated normal so much before. Thanks.

  3. Oh no Zoe! Tooth/jaw/mouth pain is so awful and often the pain killers just take the edge off. I’m glad he’s been taking care of you in whatever ways he can. And I hope you’re feeling a lot better by the time he gets home. (((hugs)))

Hey Zoe…so sorry to hear about your jaw trouble…been there, done that…very painful. Take care of yourself and hopefully, by the time Alex comes home, you will be feeling better and neither one of you will need ‘pitiful points’ and can just ‘dance.’

    Sending healing energy your way.

    Blessings,
    Cat

I appreciate the healing energy and I will take it. I kind of miss the feisty me and want the pitiful points to go away. 😉

  6. So sorry to hear about all the troubles, Zoe. Dental troubles— shudders — nothing worse! And the pain meds? Not much more than Pez, for goodness sake!

I hope you are feeling better very soon. This is why we need a DD commune or something, we’d all be over there with tea and soup & stuff.

    (((hugs)))

It has felt a bit like I was eating Pez sometimes. Frustrating.

Wow. The DD commune would be great! I would love tea and soup and stuff!!! How fun would that be.

So sorry to hear of your tooth pain Zoe. It really is the worse and painkillers owmly take the edge off. Glad to hear Alec has been taking care of you. It’s so hard seeing a loved one in pain.

I hope you feel a lot more comfortable soon.

    Hugs

I got a Chik-fil-A milkshake today. My favorite. It did make me fell a little better.

  10. It hurts just imagining a root canal and tooth pains!
Alex is a very caring husband, hope that made your difficult time at least a little easier to endure. I’m so sorry you’ve been in pain and hope everything will be back to normal soon.

  11. I’m so sorry Zoe! I was whining yesterday about doing taxes and almost compared it to getting a root canal done. Then I stopped myself because that is NO fair comparison! I read this a couple hours later. You poor dear. I hope that now the work has been done that you’ll heal up fast.

Oh I have to do my taxes too. I think they will definitely be more fun that what I have been going through.
I actually went back to the specialist today because I was not better and he adjusted my medication. I think it might finally be working. Fingers crossed. Thanks for the wishes.

Oh so hope you are feeling better soon. Nothing worse than toothache and one of the rare things that can get me in tears…

I definitely brought me to tears more than once this week. I think I am finally a bit better since seeing my dentist again so that is hopeful at least. Thanks Dee.
