I Have Learned

I know that this time of year lends itself to retrospection but I just can’t help it. It really has been quite a year and kind of amazingly to me we have now reached our one year anniversary in Dd. I feel like it is a real accomplishment.

Title-ThingsIveLearned

In no particular order I learned that….

I love my husband more than ever.

I miss him again.

Being accountable to him makes me more accountable to myself.

There are many kinds of spankings and many benefits.

Sometimes they help with stress.

Sometimes they help with closeness and connection.

Sometimes they wipe the slate clean.

Sometimes a spanking “just because” can be exactly what I need.

Maintenance is not just for cars.

I have learned that…

My home is a more peaceful and happy place when Dd is working well.

I can take more than I ever thought I would be able to and often crave strenuous sessions.

This can be really hard sometimes and it is not all fun. Anything worthwhile takes work and this can be very hard work.

This all takes an incredible amount of patience on both sides as we both work to incorporate this lifestyle into our lives but the benefits far outweigh the hardships.

If I knew we were going to be in a relationship like this I think I would have picked a different house. We have nowhere to spank if anyone else is in the house and that stinks.

Toys are fun.

I can’t keep things from Alex. I might do battle with myself on confessing something but I always do.

I couldn’t do this without the amazing and supportive community here in blogland and that I cherish all my blogging friends.

Writing helps me process all of this and gives Alex a way to understand me better.

I have learned that…

There is power in submission.

I love, love, love it when he is at his most dominant.

By submitting and giving up control I find a true power within myself.

I am proud of us, of our commitment to each other, and of our commitment to Dd. Happy Anniversary to us!

Happy Annicersay and New year Zoe. There really is a lot to be learned in this lifestyle, isn’t there? While some of the lessons may be hard, they are oh so worth it.

  2. Congrats to you and Alex on your 1 year DDaversary!
I really liked reading all of the areas you listed and all the wonderful positive changes that have occurred. These two stuck out to me:
“This can be really hard sometimes and it is not all fun. Anything worthwhile takes work and this can be very hard work.”
-and- “This all takes an incredible amount of patience on both sides as we both work to incorporate this lifestyle into our lives but the benefits far outweigh the hardships.”

IMO, The work, patience, planning and process that it takes for a successful DD relationship is the reason the fun and peaceful aspects of the relationship become realized also 🙂

When you think about it all relationships take the work patience etc. it’s just that often we stop doing the work. Dd makes us pay attention and actually do the work. I think that is the difference. There is an immediacy about our relationship now and if we are doing this well we have to be caring for each other. It is so much better.
